Pollution control and treatment technology is the priority of EEI. Its research focuses on application of Biological Engineering and Chemical Engineering in wastewater treatment and resource recovery. Innovating traditional wastewater treatment process and equipment, developing new processes and equipments with small occupying area, high efficiency, energy saving and low cost are the interests of EEI. It has several patents for the treatment of high-concentration non-degradable organic wastewater. Combined Biological Oxidation Tower (CBOT), Vertical Turbulent Biological Reactor (VTBR), Pulse Current Micro-electrolysis (ME) have been developed and applied in many aspects including industrial wastewaters from petrochemical, oil refinery, textile and dye industry, coal gas producing factory, paper making and fermentation, municipal and domestic wastewater.
For the control of air pollution, EEI focuses on flue gas desulfurization and treatment of organic waste gas. Its main technology includes Fuel Gas Desulphurization by Resource Reclamation Technology, Spray Dry Adsorption and Wet Desulfurization, Activated Carbon Fiber Adsorption of CS2 and organic waste gases.
For the treatment of solid waste, waste liquid and resource recovery, EEI focuses on municipal garbage and non-toxic industrial garbage landfill technology, treatment and utilization of waste acids and waste residue of chemical industry. It has completed Dalian Municipal Waste Treatment Project (financed by World Bank), Waste Solid Landfill Project of Dalian West Pacific Petrochemical Co. Ltd. etc.
